PROGRAMS

iNSPiRe PROGRAM
The iNSPiRe program is about helping marginalized and racialized people who have been incarcerated or who are incarcerated to prepare and practice for successful re-integration into community. One of the ways iMOVe helps them do this is by developing skills in film and television.
FREE FILM SCHOOL
As part of iMOVe’s Community Mobile Media Lab, Free Film School is a free summer program offered in partnership with NSCAD University. It provides technical film training to individuals from equity-deserving communities who face barriers to university education, helping them gain the skills and opportunities to enter and diversify the film industry.

KINTSUGI MONOLOGUES
Inspired by the philosophy of
Kintsugi—the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with gold to highlight rather than hide its
fractures - participants are encouraged to view their own challenges and imperfections – their cracks - as
valuable parts of their life stories. They explore connections between experiences and reframe
difficulties as sources of strength and growth. Storytelling becomes an act of resilience and
transformation.
A sample of their Kintsugi Monologue films can be viewed here.
CIRCLE IN THE SQUARE DRUMMING ENSEMBLE
iMOVe's collective West-African inspired drumming ensemble integrates listening with self-expression simultaneously, as participants express themselves in the context of music produced by the group, adjusting their communication as necessary in the moment in order to contribute musical coherence. Everyone is drawn to pay attention and respond to the present moment, finding their place in the music.

CENTERLINE STUDIOS
iMOVe runs a music studio - Centreline Music Studio - that records daily. We offer both free community hours and paid recording opportunities.

FILM CREW APPRENTICESHIPS
iMOVe hires participants to apprentice as film crew on iMOVe industrial and community film shoots. Participants learn industry-standard technical skills—camera work, editing, audio engineering—and collaborate on professional projects that generate income and build portfolios. This allows participants to move from healing to self-sufficiency.

COMPASSIONATE LISTENING
iMOVe offers a community-based group therapeutic program in Compassionate Listening (CL), led by founder and Executive Director Sobaz Benjamin, the only certified practitioner in the Atlantic region.
Compassionate Listening is a creation of The Compassionate Listening Project headquartered out of Indianola, Washington, USA.
TRANSFORMATIVE JUSTICE
Sobaz Benjamin brings over two decades of experience facilitating transformative processes that integrate the Restorative Justice framework and an understanding of the systemic forces shaping individual and community conflicts. While all of iMOVe's programs follow a Transformative Justice approach, the organization also provides formal restorative and transformative conflict resolution.
